Summer is around the corner and if you are the type that likes fun, it is a period worth looking forward to. One aspect of the summer that is inevitable is the heat. Going by the recent seasons, it is getting quite hot. Heat is uncomfortable and too much of it is downright dangerous.
Record shows quite a number of people have lost their lives and are falling dangerously ill when exposed to too much heat. This is one of the reasons most people spend the summer outdoors.
Air conditioners are the most popular ways to cool off when it is hot outside. Considering the fact that air conditioners consume a lot of electricity and cannot be used outdoors. They are not a complete solution to the summer heat.
Misting fans and misting system are a great go-to when you need to cool off in the summer when outdoors. And if you don’t want to spend too much on electricity bills.
When you get hot, sweat is released from your body and forms beads on your skin. When the breeze blows over the sweat, it creates a cooling effect on your body. This is the natural way the body cools down when the heat is getting too much.

Evaporative cooling is responsible for the chill you feel when a breeze strikes your skin. The air evaporates the water on your skin, with your body heat providing the energy. By forcing water, by means of a high pressure pump, through our specially designed misting nozzles, we create a fog made by ultra-fine water droplets with an average size of less than 10 microns. These tiny water droplets quickly absorb the energy (heat) present in the environment and evaporate, becoming water vapour (gas). The energy (heat) used to change the water to gas is eliminated from the environment, hence the air is cooled. They are also great to use as rentals. They are very portable, easy to set up and make every event a "cooler" place to be.
Versatility – Misting fans and misting system can be used almost anywhere. This is a huge advantage it has over air conditioners. Air conditioners require an enclosed area to provide any kind of cooling effect. Misting fans and misting system can cool any area, both indoors and outdoors. An evaporative cooler, also known as a cooling machine, swamp cooler, air cooler, or desert cooler, is an electrical appliance used for cooling ambient temperature through humidification or more specifically, through the evaporation of water, thus resulting in an increase in humidity or the addition of moisture in the air.
When used in an appropriate situation, evaporative coolers offer considerable advantages over vapor-compression or refrigerant-based air conditioning units and dehumidifiers. However, the fact that an evaporative is also a humidifier means that it has limitations and disadvantages under specific circumstances.
To understand evaporative cooling, we also need to understand heat and evaporation. Water can hold a lot of heat without changing temperature. The heat stored in water is called latent heat. Water absorbs the heat from other surfaces, making them cooler. When water absorbs enough heat, it evaporates, or changes from a liquid to a gas. The gas leaves the surface, taking the extra heat with it. The result is a decreased amount of heat and thus, decreased temperature in the surface. This is how evaporative cooling works. Think of how boiling noodles on the stove works. The stove transfers heat to the water in the pot. The water absorbs the heat, and then leaves the pot as steam, taking the heat with it.
1. Cost-effective because of cheaper price and energy efficiency: Some of the notable advantages of an evaporative cooler over a traditional air conditioning unit include a more affordable price and lower energy consumption and you can find easily on the market.
A unit of an evaporative cooler costs about 50 percent less than a traditional window-type air conditioner and about 70% to 90% less than an inverter-type air conditioner. Moreover, an evaporative cooler consumes 50% to 90% less electricity than an air conditioner.
2. Easier and cost-effective installation and maintenance: The simplicity of an evaporative cooler, swamp cooler or evaporative cooler when compared to an air conditioner also translates to cheaper installation and maintenance costs. It does not have a compressor and operation revolves chiefly around a fan and a water pump. There are also no special working fluids, especially refrigerants.
Note that the installation of an air conditioning system requires specialized skills and thus, the services of a professional installation service provider, particularly an expert contractor.
3. Better suited for dry and arid climates: Remember that an evaporative reduces air temperature through humidification or more particularly, by increasing the moisture level in the air. Hence, an evaporative cooler works best in areas with dry and arid or desert climates such as the Middle East, North Africa, West Australia, and the American Southwest. This is the reason why an evaporative cooler is also known as a desert cooler.
The aforementioned advantage translates to several specific benefits including improving comfort and decreasing static electricity problems. There are also some health benefits as well. Dry weather dries out the lining of the nose and throat, thus resulting in respiratory distress. It is also important to note that low humidity can damage wooden furniture and can shrink paper-based products such as books and artworks.
